Who should win the $1000 cash prize?
Our first playwriting competition for the Best Original Lesbian-Themed Play received a total of seventeen submissions from all over
the United States and as far away as New York, Massachusetts and New Hampshire. The Reading Committee had a difficult time, but has
selected four finalists for the next round of competition. We are pleased to announce that the four finalists (in no particular
order) are:
- Dykechotomous
by Allison Fradkin from Northbrook, IL
- Where There's a Will...
by Rosemary Robusto from Scottsdale, AZ
- Do Geese See God
by J.D. Eames from Louisville, KY
- Still Life with Maude
by Mary Casey from Los Angeles, CA
Help us choose the winning play! We will be having staged readings of the finalists' plays at the Studio Theatre on the following days:
Saturday, August 23, 1:00 p.m.
Sunday, August 24, 1:00 p.m.
Saturday, September 6, 1:00 p.m.
Sunday, September 7, 1:00 p.m.
Admission to the readings is free and complimentary refreshments will be served. The Reading Committee will use the results from audience surveys to help them select the best play and winner of the $1000 cash prize.
After each reading, every person who completes a survey will get a chance to win four tickets to the production of the winning play! At the end of all the readings, one lucky person will receive four season passes to the entire Lambda Players 20th season! Come to the readings of all four finalists and increase your chances to win!
The winning play will be selected by October 1st and will be posted on our website the same day. Tentative run dates are Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 p.m. from February 20, 2009 through March 14, 2009. Watch our Web site for updates or subscribe to our e-mail list.
