As Bees in Honey Drown: Cast and Crew

Matthew Abergel (Evan Wyler)
Like Evan, the character he’s playing, Matthew is also an author—with two books published by Simon & Schuster and (he hopes!) a third on the way. In Chicago, Matthew studied drama with Oscar-winning director Eric Simonson and Shakespeare scholar David Bevington. In Sacramento, he has performed with Lambda Players, Woodland Opera House, and River Stage at Cosumnes River College, where he teaches a rhetoric class. Matthew wants to thank Bob for this opportunity and his local Amherst Writers and Actors Workshops for keeping him creatively charged.
Kristen Wagner (Alexa Vere de Vere)
2010 marks Cyndi's 19th year in theatre. Having done every backstage job from set building to sound, she feels truly at home in her position as stage manager. Her credits include A Christmas Carol, Noises Off, The Women, Rumors , Ten Little Indians, and innumerable one-acts and musicals. Cyndi attended CSU Chico and studied theatre in London, England before obtaining her B.A. in Theatre from CSU Sacramento. She feels honored to be working with the amazing cast of Pensacola, and would like to thank David-Matthew Barnes for the opportunity to do so. She would like to say a special thanks to her beautiful children for their patience when mama is at the theatre.
Thomas Smith (Ronald, Skunk, Mike)
This is Thomas Smith's second show in the Sacramento area, the first being Assassins with Artistic Differences in the fall in which he played the parts of Lee Harvey Oswald and The Balladeer. Thomas has performed in the foothill area with Murphys Creek Theatre, and has done a number of shows at the University of the Pacific, where he graduated last May with a degree in business. Thomas is very delighted to be performing in this show and would like to thank everyone involved for putting on a great piece of theatre.
Linda Lebedchik (Waiter, Backup Singer, Carla, Newsstand Woman, Denise, Illya, Muse)
Linda, a previous student at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy, is an aspiring playwright who just so happens to love being on stage when she’s not working on one of her own shows. Some favorite acting credits include roles in The Wild Party, Cabaret, Oliver, A Chorus Line, The Man Who Came to Dinner and Julius Caesar. She will be turning 19 during the run of As Bees in Honey Drown.
Gregory Dorado (Photographer, Swen, Royalton Clerk, Morris Kaden)
This marks Gregory's first production with Lambda. Recently he was seen in Andrew Lippa's Wild Party (ensemble), Assassins (Zangara), and Bare (Ensemble). Gregory also does extensive dance work with Sacramento's newest modern dance company, Dangerous Lorraines Dance Theatre. He is thrilled to be working with a new company and many old friends. Gregory would like to thank Elsa and David Dorado for their boundless support and love and his friends for their willingness to believe in the radical ideals of free-thinking artists who consistently push boundaries open for this generation of creators.
Alexandra Claudio (Amber, Backup Singer, Secretary, Bethany, Ginny, Second Muse)
Alexandra has recently returned to Sacramento from Washington DC, where she played Debbie in Debbie Does Dallas: The Musical. Favorite West Coast roles include Emma in Tell Me on a Sunday, Frenchie/Sally Bowles understudy in Cabaret, Lavinia in Titus Andronicus, Laura in The Glass Menagerie, and Tracy in Seascape with Sharks and Dancer.
Bob Cooner (Director)
Bob Cooner has directed locally for the Woodland Opera House (Once Upon a Mattress, Man of La Mancha, Brigadoon). Other directing credits include South Pacific, Funny Girl, Guys and Dolls, Our Town, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, The Skin of Our Teeth, Found a Peanut (by Donald Margulies), and Spring Dance (by Horton Foote). As an actor, he’s performed in New York City, regionally, and in local theatres in over 30 productions, including Artistic Differences' recent acclaimed production of Stephen Sondheim's Assassins. Most recently, Bob organized and performed in fundraisers for Lambda Players (Broadway Backwards) and No on Prop. 8 (Marry Me).
Jeff Wagner (Stage Manager)
After years of lurking in the audience at shows throughout the region, Jeff is thrilled to take part in a production for the first time since a four-year stint as writer, director and producer for the state legislature’s annual “End of Session Bash.” Long ago and far away, he was a writer and featured performer with the widely acclaimed (seriously!) “Wild” sketch comedy troupe at Siskiyou Performing Arts Center, where he also appeared as Brindsley Miller in Peter Shaffer’s Black Comedy. Jeff would like to thank Bob for the opportunity, and Kristen for pretty much everything else.
Ellen Walrath (Props Mistress)
This is Ellen Walrath’s first theatre work in almost 10 years. A Sacramento native and long-time friend of Lambda, she’s so pleased to be a part of this production.
