David-Matthew Barnes David-Matthew Barnes (Writer/Director)

David-Matthew is the author of the forthcoming young adult novel Mesmerized (2010; Bold Strokes Books). He wrote and directed the feature film Frozen Stars, which received worldwide distribution. To date, he has written over forty stage plays that have been performed in three languages in eight countries. His literary work has been featured in over one hundred publications including The Best Stage Scenes, The Best Men's Stage Monologues, and The Best Women's Stage Monologues. David-Matthew won the 2008 World AIDS Day Writing Contest, earning double awards for poetry and playwriting, and the 2008 Slam Boston Award for Best Play. He has also received the Carrie McCray Literary Award, two Elly Awards for Best Original Script from the Sacramento Area Regional Theatre Alliance and additional awards from Writer’s Digest and the Florida Freelance Writers Association. David-Matthew graduated magna cum laude from Oglethorpe University with a degree in communications and English. He received a Master of Fine Arts in creative writing from Queens University of Charlotte in North Carolina. In 2007, David-Matthew was nationally selected to study his craft in private workshop with Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize winner Marsha Norman ('night, Mother, The Color Purple, The Secret Garden) at the Southampton Writers Conference in New York. David-Matthew was the 2008 Emerging Writer in Residence at Pennsylvania State University where he taught in the English program for one year. Today, he lives in Sacramento where he is the Visiting Artist for the 2009-2010 season at the Lambda Players theatre company and teaches college English classes. This fall, he will be studying screenwriting at UCLA. His current obsessions include reading Jennifer Weiner novels, drinking iced Chai tea lattes and watching classic films.

Cyndi Lopez Cyndi Lopez
(Stage Manager/Costume Designer)

2010 marks Cyndi's 19th year in theatre. Having done every backstage job from set building to sound, she feels truly at home in her position as stage manager. Her credits include A Christmas Carol, Noises Off, The Women, Rumors , Ten Little Indians, and innumerable one-acts and musicals. Cyndi attended CSU Chico and studied theatre in London, England before obtaining her B.A. in Theatre from CSU Sacramento. She feels honored to be working with the amazing cast of Pensacola, and would like to thank David-Matthew Barnes for the opportunity to do so. She would like to say a special thanks to her beautiful children for their patience when mama is at the theatre.

Peter Giovanni (Choreographer)

Peter has enjoyed a career in the entertainment industry for over 33 years both on and off stage. Choreography credits include: De Drie Hexes (Efteling, NL), U Rock 2 (Paramount Great America, Canada's Wonderland and Kings Island). As a singer, dancer, actor he has had the opportunity to perform in just about every musical out there, including roles in Chicago (1st National Tour and Beatrix Theater, NL), Grease (Broadway Revival), Miss Saigon (Broadway and Fortis Circustheater, NL) Mamma Mia (Beatrix Theater, NL), De Drie Muskateers (NL), and Saturday Night Fever (Beatrix Theater, NL) to name a few.

Nick A. Moreno Nick A. Moreno

Nick has an extensive background in advertising with the world-famous firms Cramer-Krasselt and Young & Rubicam. As a Senior Account Executive, Nick has been responsible for such high profile clients as Lincoln Mercury, Jaguar, Land Rover and Porsche. He has also worked with such corporations as Teleglobe Business Solutions, AON Risk Services and Ernst and Young, LLP.

An Elly Award-winning producer and accomplished photographer, Nick has brought over twenty critically acclaimed theatrical productions to the stage. He studied Film Production at Columbia College in Chicago and earned a degree in Communications and Business Administration at Oglethorpe University in Atlanta.

Bethany Hidden-Cauley Bethany Hidden-Cauley (Marie Baker)

This marks Bethany's eleventh production with the Lambda Players. She was last seen directing and starring in THE KATHY AND MO SHOW (Mo), in SUSPECTS on the Delta King, and performing with the ICUP Comedy Troupe. Her works with Lambda include NUN CRASHERS (Sally Anne), SIX WOMEN WITH BRAIN DEATH (Women 4), CARHOPS IN BONDAGE (Wanda - 2007/2009), SORDID LIVES (Bitsy Mae - 2007/2009), The Lambda Christmas Shows (Lucielle Ball - 2007/2008), SAPHO IN LOVE (Persuasion), JEFFREY (Debra Moorehouse), BURNT FIELDS (The Widow), and HEDWIG & THE ANGRY INCH at The Crest Theatre (Shees Ezzie). Bethany is a Natomas Charter graduate and works locally in films (Cheerleaders from Hell, Monster from Bikini Beach, Whispers & Shadows, Curse of the Golden Skull, and the upcoming films Doll Squad vs. The Astro Zombies and Planet of the Vampire Women) and television (Cinema Insomnia). She is a long time member of the Trash Film Orgy, and is one of the hosts of the Sacramento Horror Film Festival. She sends love and thanks to her husband, Will.

Paula Campanella Paula Campanella (Trudy Baker)

Pauls is very happy to be making her Lambda Players Theatre debut in Pensacola and working with David-Matthew Barnes again. She is also very excited to be working with Susan Madden, hoping to capture the same bond of friendship with Trudy and Berniece that they shared in The Cemetery Club as Lucille and Ida. She has performed in many local theatres, most recently in a production of The Shadow Box (Felicity) at The Ooley. Other favorite roles in recent years have been Charlene in The Last Resort Trailer Park, Margaret in the Elly Award winner Annie's Story and another Elly award winner The Homecoming (Voxanne) all at the Thistle Dew Dessert Theatre and Anna/Sister Margaret in Bee-Luther-Hatchee and Mrs.Van Buren in Intimate Apparel both at Celebration Arts.

Robyn Colburn Robyn Colburn (Charlotte Norwood)

Robyn is happy to be making her Lambda Players debut with Pensacola. She was just recently seen last fall as Laurie in I'm Not Rappaport at Magic Circle Theater. Robyn has been involved in theater "on and off" since she was a child, appearing in school, community, and church drama ministry productions. Past plays she has appeared in include Les Liaisons Dangereuses, Hamlet ESP, Teach Me How to Cry, and The Uninvited. Her favorite role was as Louise in the one-act Haiku at Celebration Arts, for which she received an Elly Award nomination. Robyn is an alumnus of the theater arts program at American River College.

Susan Madden Susan Madden (Berniece Cole)

Susan is excited be reprising her role in Pensacola (she has performed the role twice before and received an Elly nomination each time) under the capable direction of her dear friend David-Matthew Barnes. Susan has been seen on many stages in the Sacramento area in her 14-year acting career. Her favorite roles (besides Berniece, of course!) include Babe in The Queen of Bingo (another Elly nomination), Lorraine in A Lie of the Mind, and Olive Madison in The Odd Couple-the female version. She received an Elly for her role as an old, haughty cat in Wake Up, Jay! It's Christmas!

Janet Motenko Janet Motenko
(Berniece Cole, understudy)

Janet is grateful for this Lambda Players opportunity to return to theater acting after several years' absence. In the past she's appeared in plays and musicals on regional stages such as B Street Theatre, Woodland Opera House (Elly Award nominee and Chesley Award winner), Sierra Repertory Theatre, Sacramento Theatre Company's Stage 2, Columbia Actors Theatre, Stockton Civic Theatre and Music Circus. She earned a bachelor of arts degree in theater from California State University, Fresno, and received additional training at the American Conservatory Theater's Summer Training Congress, the B Street Theatre Conservatory and Mountview Drama School in London, where she lived for seven years and worked as a dresser at the Royal Court Theatre and the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane. Favorite roles include Madame Arcati in "Blithe Spirit," Constance in "Dear World" and Mrs. Paroo in "The Music Man." Janet recently launched a sideline career as a voiceover actor (www.janetmotenko.com).

Ernesto S. Bustos Ernesto S. Bustos (Steven Norwood)

Ernesto is very excited to make his Lambda Players premiere with Pensacola. Ernesto has a long history in theatre studying and performing in the greater Sacramento region and San Francisco Bay Area. Most recently, Ernesto performed as President Ferryman in Fourth Stage's production of Private Revolutions: An Epic Parable for America. Other productions Ernesto has appeared in are Chikamatsu's Love Suicides at Sonezaki with Community Asian Theatre of the Sierra, Tartuffe at Sacramento Theatre Company, The Zoo Story performed at World2, and South Pacific at Woodminster Theatre.

Joseph Ramos Joseph Ramos (Miguel Castillo)

Joseph is elated to once again be performing on the Lambda Players' stage alongside such a talented cast and crew! He was most recently featured in their world premiere holiday musical The Nun Crashers, and in the summer musical comedy romp Carhops in Bondage. This past spring he did double duty in A Weekend of Durang where he starred in For Whom the Southern Belle Tolls and 'Dentity Crisis. Some of Joseph's credits include Rumors, Return to the Forbidden Planet, Shock of His Life, and You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown! where he portrayed Snoopy. He has performed in several productions at Sacramento State University and competed at the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival in 2003.
